SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - Brother James Court in Springfield has had over 20 residents test positive for COVID-19 since the start of a recent outbreak.

A Facebook post from the organization said 20 residents and two staff had tested positive for the virus following a Sept. 13 outbreak. As of Wednesday, the number of residents had increased by two, reaching 22 cases.  

In July, leaders said there was one isolated COVID-19 case involving a resident. There were three isolated cases involving staff in August. 

Hospitalizations include one resident in their 50s who had minor symptoms and one staff member in their 40s. 

"Brother James Court has kept in close communication with families and Guardians about the ongoing results with their loved ones," the post said. "We continue to strive for great service and healthcare for our resident community. Please pray for the men of Brother James Court!

Brother James Court's Facebook description said it is a residential intermediate care facility serving men who have developmental disabilities. It helps up to 98 men and provides for physical, emotional, social and spiritual welfare through its programs, which are tailored to an individual's needs.
