DANVILLE, Ill. (WAND) — Danville police have arrested two suspects after a high speed chase ended in a crash on Friday morning.Â
Officers said 28-year-old Carvell Thomas and a 15-year-old boy fled after being pulled over.Â
According to police, an officer spotted a car with no headlights on going through an intersection without making a complete stop just after 12:30 a.m.Â
The car was pulled over near the intersection of Griffin Street and Knox Drive. Police say the car sped off as the officer approached.Â
Danville police chased the vehicle, and they said speeds reached over 95 miles per hour in a 30 mile per hour zone.Â
The driver eventually lost control of the car and crashed while going over train tracks near the intersection of Williams and Short streets.Â
Police said Thomas and the boy ran from the car and were arrested.
Thomas was booked on charges of aggravated fleeing and eluding, criminal damage to property over $500 and obstructing/resisting a peace officer.
The 15-year-old boy was charged with obstructing/resisting a peace officer and has been released to a family member.
The investigation is ongoing.
