GIBSON CITY, Ill. (WAND) - A woman killed after a bus carrying a middle school softball team crashed into a car in Ford County over the weekend has been identified.Â
According to Illinois State Police, the crash happened shortly after 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of IL Route 9 and Ford County 1000E Road near Gibson City.
Police found that a car driving on 1000E Road failed to yield and drove into the intersection in front of a Hoopeston School District bus, causing the bus to hit the car.
One person in the car died. The Ford County Coroner's Office identified the victim as 38-year-old Tanya Collier of Romeoville.Â
Three other people were hurt.Â
The bus was transporting 20 students on the Hoopeston Middle School softball team. ISP said all the students were taken to nearby hospitals and were not seriously hurt.
