(WAND) - A Champaign man linked to a murder committed in New Mexico over 40 years ago is now behind bars.Â
The Champaign Police Department told WAND News that officers arrested 73-year-old Charlie Brown Jr. on Tuesday in connection with a 1983 homicide in Albuquerque.Â
Albuquerque police said in a Facebook post that 71-year-old Agnes Tybo was killed in November 1983 at the Sundowner Motel while visiting the Indian National Finals Rodeo.Â
CPD stated that Albuquerque police previously came to Champaign in 2022 while working on the investigation.Â
Champaign police worked with Albuquerque officials to secure a search warrant to get a DNA sample from Brown.Â
Brown is currently in custody at the Champaign County Satellite Jail pending extradition to New Mexico.Â
