OAKLAND, Ill. (WAND) - An Indiana man was arrested in Oakland Tuesday after fleeing from police and crashing into a nearby pond.
The Coles County Sheriff's Department said in a July 22 press release that deputies responded to a harassment complaint along East North Street in Oakland at 11:28 p.m. Monday.
During the response, deputies had observed a suspect vehicle and tried to initiate a traffic stop.
The vehicle then fled the scene and wrecked into a nearby pond.
The suspect, Tony Kuhn, 42, of Terre Haute, Indiana, fled the scene on foot.
Kuhn was apprehended at 11:37 a.m. Tuesday in a wooded area near Turn One Tire in Oakland.
Kuhn was charged with residential burglary, criminal damage to property, resisting arrest, possession of stolen property and fleeing/eluding a police officer.
