Police arrest - handcuffs (C)

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. (WAND) - Jacksonville police arrested a man Friday who was wanted in Mexico, Missouri. 

The Jacksonville Police Department said in a press release that they received information Aug. 29 that Montrel Burton was believed to be in Jacksonville. 

Burton was wanted on charges of robbery in the first-degree, unlawful use of a weapon, armed criminal action and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.

Jacksonville PD had been searching for Burton, who was spotted in a vehicle by patrol. Burton was then seen entering a building in the 300 block of E. State before officers could conduct a traffic stop.

Police said they surrounded the building, and once Burton exited the establishment, he was then arrested. 

Burton is currently being held at the Morgan County Detention Facility for the MPD.
