DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - After multiple delays, a Decatur father found guilty on possession of child pornography charges was sentenced Friday. He will face three years behind bars, and be a registered sex offender for life.

Doug and Kelly Nichols were both found guilty of possessing child pornography in Macon County Court in October 2024. The pair was set to be sentenced in November, but the date has been postponed several times.

In April, the Nichols' lawyer withdrew from the case due to a "conflict of interest." Their new attorney asked for the sentencing to be pushed back again so he had enough time to review evidence and read trial transcripts.

On Friday,  the judge sentenced Doug Nichols to three years in prison with two years of conditional discharge.

Now that this sentencing is complete, Doug faces trial in a separate case. He will face charges of criminal sexual assault of a minor and aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a minor.

His wife Kelly, who was sentenced in May is serving six years in jail for possessing and creating child pornography.
