(WAND) - A Mahomet man has pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography and child solicitation of a child stemming from a January arrest.
Champaign County court records said that Matthew Morin will serve eight years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. He will also receive credit for the 69 days he previously served.
The Champaign County Sheriff's Office said its investigation began in October 2025 when its Criminal Investigations Division received multiple reports from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).
NCMEC had received the reports from Snapchat, which dealt with the exploitation of minors.
The Sheriff's Office identified Morin as the suspect following an investigation. During the investigation, Morin was found to have communicated online with at least 58 minors, along with posing as someone underage multiple times.
The exact age range of the victims is uncertain.
Champaign County detectives also found that Morin requested nude photographs and even videos from those underage, and even sent nude photos in return.
Morin was arrested Jan. 26 and charged with sexual exploitation of a child, possession of child pornography and grooming.
