CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) - One person was sent to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after a shooting in Champaign Tuesday afternoon. 

According to Champaign police, officers were called to the 2600 block of JT Coffman Drive around 3:30 p.m. following reports of a shooting with injuries.

Police said once on-scene they found a 24-year-old Champaign man with life-threatening gunshot wounds. The man was taken to a hospital and is in critical condition.

Officer said their investigation shows the man was inside the apartment of an acquaintance when he was involved in an argument with two unidentified men. During the argument, a gun was fired, and the man was struck. He then ran for help and was found outside of the apartment building by officers.

The other people involved ran away.
