CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) - A University of Illinois police officer will not face charges after being arrested Sunday afternoon following a domestic battery call.
The Champaign Police Department said officers responded just after 1 p.m. on March 15 near the intersection of Prairie Meadow Drive and Doubletree Lane in Champaign.
Joseph Cassidy, 38, was arrested at the scene, and his case has been referred to the state's attorney's office.
The senior communications coordinator for the U of I's Division of Public Safety told WAND News that Cassidy is an officer, but was unable to comment on personnel matters.
The Champaign County State's Attorney told WAND News that no formal charges were filed against Cassidy. They said the victim declined prosecution and did not provide enough information for charges to be filed.
