SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - A Springfield man has been arrested for battery after police say he threatened a woman with a knife. 

According to Springfield police, officers responded to a Walgreens located on S MacArthur Blvd. on Wednesday afternoon for a report of a person with a weapon. 

Officers were informed that a woman had entered the bathroom at the store and was quickly followed in by a man. Officers said the man then battered the female victim and immediately fled the area.

Police began searching for the suspect and later found Malcom Hill, 35, of Springfield in the area. Officers were able to positively identify Hill as the suspect.

Hill was placed under arrest for aggravated battery, unlawful use of a weapon and aggravated assault. He was transferred to the custody of the Sangamon County jail.
