URBANA, Ill. (WAND) — A man charged in a fatal hit-and-run crash in Urbana was returned to Champaign County earlier this week.

Julio Cucul Bol, a 29-year-old citizen of Guatemala, was arrested in January about an hour south of Dallas, Texas.

Urbana police believe Cucul Bol was driving a Mitsubishi Outlander when he rear-ended a Honda Civic that was slowing down at a traffic light on University Avenue at Coler Avenue on Jan. 19. Five people were in the Honda, and two were fatally injured: 21-year-old Chloe Polzin and 20-year-old Katherine J. Abraham.

The other passengers also sustained injuries in the crash.

Police say Cucul Bol left the scene of the crash without stopping.

When he was arrested by the United States Marshals Service in Milford, Texas, he originally gave a false name

Cucul Bol was arrested on charges of leaving the scene of a personal injury resulting in death, reckless homicide, and aggravated driving under the influence resulting in death.

On Wednesday, he was denied pretrial release at a detention hearing. Cucul Bol will be back in court mid-March for a preliminary hearing.
