Robert Lee Jr., 57, of Springfield, was arrested on Wednesday for three counts of first-degree murder and one count of concealment of a homicidal death. 

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) — Illinois State Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the 2024 murder of a woman whose body was found near I-55 in Springfield.

Robert Lee Jr., 57, of Springfield, was arrested on Wednesday for three counts of first-degree murder and one count of concealment of a homicidal death. 

According to ISP, on March 13, 2024, officers were notified by the Illinois Department of Transportation of the discovery of human remains located along the I-55 southbound ramp from Stevenson Drive in Springfield.

The victim was later identified as Teresa Coleman of Springfield. 

ISP states that after a lengthy and thorough investigation, special agents were able to identify Robert Lee as the suspect.​ ​

On Wednesday, Lee was taken into custody and is being held at the Sangamon County Jail pending a detention hearing.

ISP is continuing to investigate the homicide. ​
