SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) — An autopsy was performed today on the body of a woman found near a ramp on Interstate 55 on Wednesday.

The Sangamon County Coroner, Jim Allmon, identified the body found near the southbound entrance ramp to I-55 at Stevenson Drive in Springfield to be Teresa Ann Coleman, 54, of Springfield.

An IDOT worker found her remains.

WAND News learned on Thursday, Coleman was reported missing to police on February 16th.

Preliminary autopsy findings determined Coleman’s death was a homicide.

Traffic was diverted around four hours while the area around the ramp was searched.

The death is being investigated by Illinois State Police, the Springfield Police Department and the Sangamon County Coroner’s Office.
