DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — The United States is edging slowly to a time when electric vehicles (EVs) will dominate the nations highways. Decatur is moving forward with plans to create the infrastructure needed to allow EVs to charge in different parts of the city.

The city of Decatur is asking residents to fill out a survey to answer some questions about their knowledge of EVs and where they would like electric charging stations to be located.

“EV charging stations can’t go anywhere or everywhere,” said Deputy City Manager John Kindseth. "They have to go in strategic locations where they’ll be fully utilized, but also have the electrical infrastructure necessary to power EV charging stations."
