SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - A 7-year-old boy has died after being pulled from Lake Catatoga in central Illinois.
The Springfield State Journal-Register reports that family members were performing CPR when Macoupin County sheriff's deputies arrived at the lake Friday morning.

He was transported from Carlinville Area Hospital to Springfield after being pulled from Lake Catoga in Plainview, IL, where he regained a pulse after an hour of CPR.

He was then transported by helicopter to St. John's Hospital in Springfield, where he died early Friday evening.
Ethan Kitchens, age 7, of Decatur died at HSHS St. John's Hospital at 5:30 p.m.Â
An autopsy was performed in Springfield and the preliminary cause of death is drowning. Foul play is not suspected.
