Decatur city bus involved in crash downtown

DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — Fire crews and police were on the scene of a crash involving a city transit bus and a van on the corner of Church and Eldorado St. this afternoon.

The vehicles appear to have crashed at the corner of the United Way of Decatur & Mid-Illinois building.

A statement from Decatur Public Transit said that four people have been transported to the hospital.

Decatur Public Transit gave the following statement regarding the incident:

“The safety of our drivers, passengers, and other motorists is our highest priority. We are working to gather more details and review available footage of the accident. Our bus driver, the private vehicle driver, and two bus passengers were transported to a local hospital and their conditions are unknown at this time. We thank our first responders for being on scene so quickly, and we will continue to coordinate with local law enforcement investigating this accident.”
