DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - The Decatur Fire Department successfully contained a "smoldering event" at ADM's East plant Tuesday.
Decatur FD said in a Sept. 9 press release that the call came in around 11:45 a.m., bringing firefighters to the plant at 4666 East Faries Parkway.
DFD told firefighters upon arrival that ADM staff members told them there was a fire in an elevated belt conveyor.
DFD said the fire was contained quickly in a small area of the conveyor system.
ADM also confirmed to WAND News in a statement, "A smoldering event occurred at the grain-dump portion of ADM's Decatur complex. It was quickly extinguished and contained and there were no injuries."
