DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — The Decatur fire department (DFD) responded to a house fire around 9:45 p.m. Saturday night.
It happened at 1197 W. Green St. DFD says firefighters saw smoke coming from the roof of the residence when they arrived.Â
Crews did a search and put out the fire, but the home suffered "major damage" as the fire extended to the attic.
There was nobody in the house at the time, as it was undergoing renovations.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
