DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - Decatur Mayor Julie Moore Wolfe announced she will run for re-election in 2027.Â
Mayor Moore Wolfe has been elected mayor three times and has served on the Decatur City Council since 2009.Â
"Together we work through challenges and build our own success story. We've brought home over $137 million for roads, bridges, and transportation initiatives in the last ten years. That's business, labor, the city and county working together as Team Decatur," Moore Wolfe said.Â
Mayor Moore Wolfe said she's proud of work she's done to help companies like Fuyao, that announced recently it will double the size of its plant and hire 200 more people.Â
The Brush College Road overpass will open later this summer.Â
Moore Wolfe added, "Our new Decatur Moves vans are getting people to work, church, the doctor's office and the grocery store. We are removing barriers to make lives better."Â
Mayor Moore Wolfe said her priorities for the next term include working to reduce property tax burdens, growing the local workforce, and increasing middle income housing opportunities to attract new residents.Â
Moore Wolfe was elected to the city council in 2009 and then again in 2013. She was appointed Mayor in 2015.Â
