DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — Dove Inc. held their annual Candlelight Ceremony Wednesday night to raise awareness about domestic violence in the community.

Ryan Huff, Marketing & Communications Coordinator for Dove Inc., said the night wasn't just about raising awareness about the harsh truths of domestic violence. "It is not only honoring those who have suffered, but also honoring those who have passed away from domestic violence." Dove Inc. affiliates lit a candle for Tiffany Ware, who as shot in a murder-suicide by her boyfriend in December 2023.

Huff said that dismantling harmful stereotypes surrounding domestic violence was equally as important. "Education. That's what it comes down to: making sure that people understand that situations aren't black and white, that they aren't crisp, or clear cut...It's it's not that easy." said Huff.

He said that seeing the community come in support of victims of domestic violence was heartwarming. "It's everybody from every walk of life that is here tonight. And it's wonderful to see our community come together." said Huff.
