DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - Registration for Decatur Public Schools is officially open through July 31, ahead of the school year beginning August 13.
For anyone who misses the deadline, they can still register their student, but their child may not be able to start on the first day of school.
"We just want to make sure that parents understand that if you're coming to register your student on the first day of school, they won't have a schedule automatically ready," said Dr. Danielle Lusby, the Director of Student Services for DPS61. "So, you'd be coming in to complete the registration process, but they'd be going back home with you because they wouldn't be able to start on that particular day."
Registration is not just for first-time students. Returning students must be re-registered before every school year.
The registration link is available on the district's website.
Students also need to have updated immunization records.
"Sixth and ninth grade would be those standard immunizations for that age range, and then that 12th grade meningitis shot," Lusby said. "That's all to be submitted to school by or before October 15."
Lusby says students need to have an updated physical.
The EDULog app is available for download on all smartphones. Bus routes, times and alerts regarding delays will be featured on the app.
