SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) — U.S. farmers face growing worries as the uncertainty of actions by the federal government continue.
Uncertainty about the feds paying federal loans and uncertainty about the impact of tariffs puts a new spin on the agriculture industry as growing season approaches.
“The farmers are taking out loans. They thought that loan was going to be made good by the federal government and there have been delays in those loans,” Congresswoman Nikki Budzinski, (D) Illinois, told WAND News. “Luckily, what we heard is our great Department of Agriculture in the State of Illinois has been able to work directly with some of these growers to get some of that money unleashed.”
Budzinski was in Springfield Wednesday meeting with her Agriculture Advisory Council. Thursday she will be in Decatur to discuss the impact of federal cuts in the Medicaid program and the cuts impact on Crossing Healthcare.
