Officials recommend the University of Illinois's Special Admissions System be discontinued. That's after reports show under qualified students were admitted based on their political ties.
A former Associate Admissions Director testified to situations in which denied applications were overturned. He says it was his job to track the list, and in the last few years it had between 150 and 165 students, most from affluent high schools in the Chicago suburbs.
