SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - Gregory Gilmore was sworn in as the United States Attorney for the Central District of Illinois.Â
He was sworn in on June 1 at the federal courthouse in Springfield.Â
U.S. Attorney Gilmore was nominated by President Trump on January 13, 2026 and confirmed by the United States Senate on May 18. President Trump signed Gilmore's commission on May 27.Â
Gilmore is the 33rd U.S. Attorney for the Central District of Illinois.Â
He previously served as the Acting U.S. Attorney for the Central District of Illinois where he worked since 1994. Prior to attending law school, he worked as a certified public accountant at a big four accounting firm and for the Federal Bureau of Investigation.Â
