ILLINOIS (WAND) – High school students interested in careers in healthcare can now apply for Summer 2026 Healthcare Bootcamps through Hospital Sisters Health System.
The programs will be held at HSHS St. John’s Hospital, HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital, and HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital.
Designed for high school juniors and seniors, the bootcamps offer hands-on experiences, job shadowing, and opportunities to connect with healthcare professionals. Organizers say the goal is to give students a realistic look at careers in the medical field before graduation.
Past participants say the program can be life-changing, helping them build skills and choose a career path in healthcare.
Destiny Ross former attendee of the HSHS High School Healthcare Bootcamp shares, “During the bootcamp, I learned the importance of compassion, attention to detail, and patient-centered care. It showed me that being a CNA is not just about skills, but about truly caring for others. I chose this path to make a difference, and I’m excited to begin my journey with HSHS.”
Ross is s now pursuing a career as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) through HSHS St. Elizabeth’s CNA Program.
Applications are due May 2, and selected students will be notified by May 14. All sessions are free to attend thanks to local hospital foundations.
