Human remains found in wooded area in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - Human remains were discovered in a wooded area in Springfield, Thursday evening.

According to the Sangamon County Coroner, human remains were recovered near the corner of South MacArthur Boulevard and West Wabash Avenue.

The remains have yet to be positively identified. An autopsy has been scheduled for Friday.

The death remains under investigation by the Sangamon County Coroner and the Springfield Police Department.
