SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - Sangamon County voters passed a proposition Tuesday night to add a sales tax to subsidize mental health services.
The tax is a half-percent on sales tax, meaning an additional $.50 for a $100 purchase.
The Sangamon County Mental Health Board will now fund resources and care in the county.
The tax is expected to generate about $15 million dollars per year for the increase in mental health services.
