CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) — A man was arrested after a shooting that sent one person to the hospital in Champaign Saturday afternoon.
The Champaign Police Department said officers responded to the 1200 block of Providence Circle just after 12:30 p.m. for reports of a shooting.
When they arrived, officers found a 28-year-old man who had been shot. He was taken to the hospital, where police said he is in stable condition.
According to Champaign police, an investigation showed that the victim was in the 1400 block of Summit Ridge Road when he crossed paths with 27-year-old Travon Brize. Police said the interaction resulted in an argument, during which Brize shot the man.
The Champaign Police Department said the victim left the area looking for help, where he was found by officers on Providence Circle. Brize was found a short time later on Summit Ridge Road.
