Beloved Danville donut shop opening location in Champaign

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) — Royal Donut, a local donut shop that has operated in Danville since the 70's, will open a new location in Champaign this fall.

It is the first time the business is expanding outside of Danville. The new shop will be at 1105 Windsor Rd., where Pandamonium Doughnuts was before closing in June.

Royal Donut says the owners of Pandamonium Doughnuts reached out to them about taking over the space.

"We thought it was a perfect chance to continue having delicious donuts in that space," Royal Donut said in a Facebook post. "Our donuts are not a direct replacement o their delicious and unique creations, but we hope to be a welcome addition to Champaign-Urbana."

The business has not set an opening date, but the plan is to open this fall.
