DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — Two people were injured after their home caught fire in Decatur Tuesday night.

The Decatur Fire Department responded to the home near the intersection of East Decatur Street and South Martin Luther King Jr. Drive just before 9 p.m.

Two people were hurt and a dog died after a massive house fire in Decatur on Tuesday, March 24, 2026.

When firefighters arrived, they found the two story home on fire. The fire department said two people living there had self evacuated by jumping out of the second-floor windows.

Both people were taken to the hospital. The department said their conditions are unknown at this time.

The fire department also said a dog was found dead inside the home.

A WAND News photographer on the scene said the fire appeared to be out shortly after 9:30 p.m.

The Decatur Fire Department is still investigating the cause of the fire.
