EFFINGHAM, Ill. (WAND) — A home was damaged after a car caught fire in Effingham Thursday morning.

The Effingham Fire Department responded to a home near the intersection of East Gordon Avenue and South Willow Street just before 12 p.m. after reports of a vehicle fire.

When they arrived, firefighters found a vehicle fully on fire beneath a carport attached to the home, with the fire extending into the home.

Firefighters conducted searches of the home and brought it under control in under 10 minutes, according to the department. Crews were on scene until just before 1:30 p.m.

The fire department said nobody was hurt, and there was an estimated $85,000 worth of damage.

According to firefighters, the fire started in the vehicle's engine and was an accident.
