CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) — Students from Champaign Unit 4 earned third place at the Illinois State Academic Challenge in Engineering and Science (ACES) Competition.
According to the district, the placement is the highest finish in program history.
ACES is an academic competition that tests students across seven subject areas, including biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, computer science, engineering graphics, and English.
Three students earned top individual honors at the state level:
- Tommy Rasmussen — 2nd place, biology
- Aaron Rubico — 1st place, chemistry; 1st place, engineering graphics
- Lynn Kim — 3rd place, English
Several students also earned top honors in the regional competition:

- Lynn Kim — 1st place, English, 2nd place (tie), chemistry
- Zac Pyo — 2nd place (tie), chemistry

- Soorin Park — 2nd place, engineering graphics
- Apollo Breg — 3rd place, engineering graphics
- Emily Miller — 1st place, physics
- Mariam Soufi — 2nd place, physics
