TAYLORVILLE, Ill. (WAND) - The Christian County Board has rescheduled its monthly meeting after a large crowd of concerned residents packed the courthouse on Tuesday. This prompted the board to cancel the meeting because of capacity concerns.
The large crowd came after rumors on social media swirled about a proposed data center outside Taylorville. The board’s meeting has been rescheduled for May 26 at the Pillars Event Center in Taylorville.
The larger space is anticipated to accommodate another large crowd of residents. There are no specific agenda items listed about the possible development.
WAND News has learned Eagle Rock Partners is the company considering a project in Christian County. The company said its plans are still preliminary in the following statement:
“Eagle Rock’s envisioned multi-phase technology campus in Christian County is in the early exploration and planning stages, and we are working through our community engagement as well as applicable local zoning, and extensive due diligence.”
WAND News has reached out multiple times to the Christian County Economic Development Corporation, but has received no response.
This is a developing story.
