DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) – Crews worked throughout the weekend and into Monday to remove tons of snow that covered runways at the Decatur Airport.

“We’ve been here Saturday. We’ve been here Sunday and we did come in early on Monday to get an early start,” Airport Director Tim Wright told WAND News.

Wright said the airport is well equipped to handle storms like the one which hit over the weekend.

“We have snow plows. We have snow brooms. Both of those are 18-foot wide. And then we have big snow blowers out there that can do five tons of snow an hour,” Wright stated.

United Express canceled two flights serving Decatur on Sunday. United resumed regular service on Monday morning.
