DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — With snow piled onto driveways and sidewalks throughout central Illinois Sunday, one Decatur teenager used his shovel to melt the hearts of community members.

"You find kids like Jordan in here willing to go out and help others. It tells you there are still some kids who are raised  right, and the new generation is coming along a lot better," said Decatur resident Terry White.

17-year-old Jordan Branson is the owner of JB's auto detailing. He set out on a mission to help senior citizens clear snow from their driveways for free after a winter storm hit Decatur and much of central Illinois.

"Honestly, it's the least I can do," Branson said. "It doesn't cost me any money to get out here with a shovel and help people out. They can't do it themselves," Branson said.

76-year-old Terry White was one of the people Branson helped. After White lost his wife last year, this gesture brought him to tears.

"Me and my wife were together for 63 years, and now I'm by myself and I'm trying to maintain, but it's hard," White said. "This is a small gesture that lets me know I'm still cared for."

This act of kindness is a reminder that sometimes the smallest gestures can make a big difference.

Branson said he plans to continue supporting the community any way he can.
