SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) — The Illinois State Fair is taking extra precautions to help visitors beat the heat on the Fair's final day.

With the heat index set to hit triple digits in Springfield on Sunday, fair officials remind people that the Orr Building, Livestock Center, Illinois Building and Emmerson Building lobby are all air conditioned and open as cooling centers.

The fair also set up an air conditioned cooling tent behind the Coors tent off Grandstand Avenue.

There are free water stations at multiple locations across the fairgrounds, including:

  • Governor's Tent
  • Lt. Governor's Tent
  • First Lady's Tent
  • Comptroller's Tent
  • Attorney General's Tent
  • Agriculture Tent
  • Treasurer's Tent
  • Sensory Station

For Sunday night's Turnpike Troubadours concert at the Grandstand, the fair has stocked extra water on the track and will provide buses to serve as temporary on site cooling stations.

There are also first responders standing by to offer medical assistance throughout the fair if needed.
