KENNEY, Ill. (WAND) - The Village of Kenney's fire department came together Friday to fulfill an important need as it hosted its ninth annual community blood drive.
Kerry Coles, a Kenney firefighter, said the village is small with around 300 residents, but expected about 120 people to donate by the end of the day.
He added that donating blood makes you a hero.
"They say not all heroes wear capes and it's a fact. Because when you walk out of here, if you've donated blood, you're a hero to somebody. You've impacted somebody, you helped somebody, and you're improving their life through this," Coles said.
More information on how to donate blood through ImpactLife is available online.
