CHARLESTON, Ill. (WAND) — One of the longest running fairs in Illinois is underway. The Coles County Fair kicked off on Sunday.
The fair runs from Sunday, July 27 to Monday, August 4.
The fair started festivities with the Miss Coles County Pageant at the grandstand. Paige Schwindt was named Miss Coles County 2025. Heidi Winkler was named Little Miss, and Callyn Ballenger took the title of Jr. Miss.Â
This week will include harness races, a truck and tractor pull and a demolition derby.
The Coles County Fair, held in Charleston, has been running continuously since 1854, making it the oldest continuous fair in Illinois. This year marks the 171st year.Â
