Midwest Mission

PAWNEE, Ill. (WAND) - Midwest Mission will send relief following Hurricane Melissa, a Category 5 hurricane, making landfall in Jamaica on Tuesday.

The organization said in a press release that it is working with partner Food For The Poor to coordinate shipments.

A truck full of supplies will be sent out Oct. 31 to Food For The Poor's Miami, Florida, warehouse, and will be shipped out when conditions are safe.

Midwest Mission shared that the supplies most needed are bed packs, including twin sheet sets, pillowcases and pillows, and can be sent to the organization's Pawnee location.

"Families will lose homes, communities will be flooded, and access to power and clean water will be cut off. We are responding immediately with supplies and prayer to support those who are suffering," said Midwest Mission Executive Director Chantel Corrie in a statement.
