SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) — Lake Springfield will host a state bass fishing tournament over the weekend.
The Illinois High School Coaches and Student State Tournament for bass fishing will be at the lake on Saturday, May 30 and Sunday, May 31. The city said over 50 high schools will participate.
The Lindsay Boat Launches will be reserved for the tournament from Friday, May 29 at 10 p.m. through Sunday, May 31 around 3 p.m. The Harbor Point and Sailboat Launches in Center Park, the Spaulding Dam Launch and Marine Point Launch will stay open to the public.
The city said anyone is invited to attend and watch the tournament from the Lindsay Boat Launch, but the launches will not be available for non-tournament boats during the event.
Fish weigh-ins will be held in the Lindsay Bridge area at 1 p.m. on each day of the tournament.
