PARIS, Ill. (WAND) - The City of Paris has closed its beach after high levels of coliform were detected in the water.
According to the New York State Department of Health, coliform is bacteria present in human and animal waste, along with plant and soil material, and can also include bacteria like E. coli.
It is unclear what specific bacteria were detected.
The City said in a Facebook post that the beach will stay closed until samples are tested with satisfactory results.
WAND News reached out to Paris city administration for comment, but has not yet heard back.
