SAVOY, Ill. (WAND) – The Savoy Fire Department and the Village of Savoy are recognizing the retirement of longtime Public Information Officer Eddie Bain, marking the end of a career spanning more than five decades in the fire service.
Bain’s career includes service with the Illinois Fire Service Institute, the Champaign Fire Department, and the Urbana Fire Department. For the past 19 years, he has served the Savoy Fire Department as its Public Information Officer.
Fire Chief Sam Smith praised Bain’s dedication and leadership.
“Eddie has always carried himself with professionalism, integrity, and a deep commitment to our community,” Smith said. “His knowledge, experience, and steady leadership have been invaluable to our organization and the residents we serve. He will be greatly missed.”
Bain’s retirement will be celebrated with an event at 6 p.m. Monday night at the Savoy Fire Department station.
Officials say his legacy will leave a lasting impact on the department and the communities he served throughout his career.
