CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) — A vehicle was found submerged in a Champaign lake Wednesday morning.
According to the city of Champaign, the Champaign Fire Department responded to Kaufman Lake at 2702 West Springfield Avenue just after 8 a.m., after someone passing by reported a vehicle was nearly fully submerged in the lake.
Firefighters said nobody was found inside the vehicle.
Crews could not find vehicle tracks or determine when the vehicle may have gone into the water, according to the department.
Searches were done by the Champaign Fire Department and the Cornbelt Fire Protection District's dive team. The vehicle was taken out of the water and confirmed to be unoccupied.
