SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) — Illinois State Police have released footage from the shooting of ISP Trooper Dakotah "Kody" Chapman-Green in Springfield on Oct. 24.

The footage was released minutes after an emotional press conference that featured ISP Director Brendan F. Kelly, Sangamon County State’s Attorney Dan Wright, as well as the Chapman-Green's parents and fiancée.

The video, which includes dashcam as well as surveillance video, shows Chapman-Green conducting a traffic stop on Cristobal Santana, 37, of Chicago. During the stop, Santana exits his vehicle and point a gun towards the trooper. According to ISP, Santana fired at least 10 shots.

Once Chapman-Green is on the ground, Santana returns to his vehicle and drives away.

The video then shows dashcam footage of the apprehension of Santana later that night on Oct. 25 around 2 a.m. While fleeing other officers near a gas station, Santana can be seen getting struck by a vehicle. He was taken to the hospital for injuries sustained during his apprehension and remains in the hospital.

On Friday, the Sangamon County State’s Attorney’s Office filed two counts of attempted first degree murder, one count of aggravated battery with a firearm to a police officer, one count of aggravated battery to a police officer, and one count aggravated unlawful use of a weapon against Santana.

It was learned later that Santana was wanted in connection with a homicide that occurred recently in Chicago. He is suspected of shooting and shooting and killing his ex-girlfriend, a special education teacher on Oct. 22.

All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
