Pana, Ill (WAND) – It’s a project community leaders hope will be a catalyst for future downtown development. The new Jack Flash travel center in downtown Pana is a total investment of around $10 million.

The grand opening of the facility was Friday. It’s already creating a lot of interest from local residents.

The Jack Flash project consists of the acquisition of 27 parcels of land and buildings and has been in the works for several years. It takes up an entire city block in the downtown corridor.

“Probably the most difficult part of this entire project was the fact there were 27 parcels of property here,” said Jack Flash owner John Wortman. “I think this is going to be great for Pana. It should be very good for business for us. Anyway, I intend to do a lot of retail on this corner for a long time.

The first Jack Flash opened in Effingham in 1986. There are now more than 18 Jack Flash related businesses in Illinois and Missouri.
