LINCOLN, Ill. (WAND) — The day after a massive fire tore through a building in downtown Lincoln, Fire Chief Ty Johnson had reports, messages and business cards on his desk. People and the media all wanted information on the major fire in downtown Lincoln on Thursday. WAND News went to his office to get the details first hand.
The fire swept through a two-story building. Businesses, including a gun shop, were on the lower level. At least four apartments were on the second level. People living in the apartments escaped.
One Lincoln firefighter was taken to a local hospital for observation. In all, 26 agencies including the Decatur Fire Department arrived to provide assistance.
Building burned out in Lincoln, Illinois from September 6, 2024 fire.
The cause of the fire has not been determined. The State Fire Marshal is investigating. At least one federal agency is also looking into the fire since a gun shop was lost in the fire.
