DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — The Macon County Health Department has kicked off its health clinics and services for the back-to-school season. Families and students entering kindergarten through high school can receive dental exams, physicals, vision exams, vaccinations and lead tests through the month of August.

The goal is to make these school requirements accessible for all community members before their kids are in the classrooms.

Emily O'Connell, the Director of Health Promotion and Public Relations said the department doesn't "want students missing out in October. That denial day comes and students will not be able to attend school and get the education they need. So we are here providing these extra clinics so that families can get what they need."

The health clinics will be running on a first come first serve basis through the month of August. There will be a few extra clinics in September and October.
