DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) – March 17 is the midterm Illinois primaries. If you still have a mail-in ballot, do NOT mail it. Chances are, if you mail it on Tuesday, it will not get the required postmark on time.
County clerks around the state are telling people still holding those ballots to place them in ballot drop boxes. The locations for those drop boxes can be found by contacting your local county clerk's office.
Sangamon County has two drop boxes: one at 2201 S. Dirksen Parkway and another at the Sangamon County complex at 200 S. 9th on the first floor. Champaign County has 11 locations. The only drop box for Macon County is at the corner of Wood and Main Streets.
You need to sign and date the ballot. Any ballots received on March 18th or later will not be counted.
