LEE COUNTY, Fla. (NBC 2) — Lee County, Florida has declared a local State of Emergency due to Hurricane Ian.
Mandatory evacuations will be for Zone A, and parts of Zone B will also be evacuated. Officials urged to not put your trash out if you are in Zone A and partial Zone B.Â
Zone A is in the low lying areas, along the coastal area and barrier islands based on the surge models, with the focus of the Bonita area near the Imperial River. The Zone B evacuation order applies to residents south of Veterans Parkway in Cape Coral, as well as residents who live in mobile and manufactured homes.
If you need help and want to know your evacuation route, call 211.
Ten emergency shelters will be opening this morning at 9 a.m. All shelters are pet friendly. You can find the list HERE.
Sheriff Carmine Marceno said his top priority is to keep folks safe during this storm. Law enforcement is not going to respond after 45MPH winds. Until it is safe to do so, they will respond as soon as possible.
Officials said to get non-perishables and be prepared for days without electricity. If you plan on evacuating, go to a family/friend’s house that is outside of the evacuation zone.
Lee and Charlotte County are both under Hurricane Warnings.Â
